    • Anxious about COVID-19's effects on the World

Anyone else worried about what the ramifications of COVID-19 are on the world? I'm talking about the economic system as well as our governments. Who knows what's going to happen?

So many people have lost their jobs and I doubt they're going to get it back once the pandemic is over.

In fact, I think that many of these lost jobs are going to become automated. After all, it costs less for the corporations in the long-term.

    • RE: Extremely anxious about aging and time

Yeah, I've started caring less and less about the past and I focus more on the present now. I find that pretending I only have a few years left to live a bit motivating and stress relieving. Makes it so I can focus on making my life better for both the short-term as well as long-term.

"I haven't accomplished anything or done anything that's memorable" -Would you care to explain, please??? ๐Ÿ™‚
      [/quote]

I haven't done anything in the last 5-7 years. I just wake up and do whatever I can to make the time fly. I'm not ambitious or motivated at all. I'm in school at the moment but I'm just doing the bare minimum to not fail. I don't care about my grades nor do I care about having a career.

There's really nothing that I want to do. So because of this I feel like I haven't done anything productive in my life.

    • RE: Extremely anxious about aging and time

Yeah, time flies. I still feel this way, and I blame it all on the anhedonia. The fact is I don't enjoy anything. Not food, not games, movies, socializing, tv shows, nothing. I feel like many years of my life are being wasted simply because I can't enjoy them. It's gotten so bad that I barely eat anymore. I really can't get myself to get in enough calories. Everything tastes bland and boring.

A lot of people take for granted the pleasure they get from everyday things and some even treat it as evil. But anhedonia has opened my eyes and that is life is all about pleasure. Whether you want to be successful, have a family, accomplish goals, whatever it is it all requires you to feel reward and pleasure. And this is what motivates a lot of people. If you take away the reward then you also take away the motivation.

      Anhedonia is a living hell.

    • Forum fixed thanks to Crystal

      Hi everyone,

I setup a redirect in the wrong way and the forum was broken for about 5 months because of it. You'll notice that the URL now has HTTPS in it meaning that it's a secure connection. So if you have a virus or someone is tapping into your Internet connection they won't be able to see what you do or write on this site as it will be encrypted. Of course they can always just visit the site, but they won't be able to intercept your connection.

Anyway, what was happening was almost everything was redirecting to the homepage and as a result you couldn't view or make threads.

Crystal brought this to my attention and I was able to fix it today. Thank you once again,ย Crystal! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • RE: Emotionless obsession?

That's definitely a good idea, it seems like you don't really know why it's happening. A good psychologist should be able to get to the bottom of it. I hope it's free where you live as there are many bad psychologists that have no idea what they're talking about. I hope you don't have to deal with one. But, you could maybe check to see if they're any good by googling their names and reading the reviews, if there are any.

    • RE: Not a very happy story

Hi wanderer, welcome to the forums!

It could be possible she suffered from clinical depression and couldn't bring herself to explain the situation. That would make sense as to why she wouldn't give a reason nor speak at all.

Regardless, the only thing you can do is move on and forget about her. But that's easier said than done. Meditation can greatly help keep the negative emotions under control. Exercise is also important. I think simply keeping occupied or busy all the time can help you to forget about her and erase the negative emotions you're thinking about. Especially if you find something you're really passionate about, you'll be thinking about it more and more until you completely forget about her.
